This edition is contained in the "Message form the President of the United States, transmitting an authenticated copy of the Constitution of the State of California", 31st Congress, 1st Session, House of Representatives Executive Document No. 39.

General Riley gave a copy of the California Constitution to President Taylor, who in turn transmitted it to the House of Representatives. The complete text of the Constitution is preceded by a short statement of the President and is followed by a certification of the Secretary of State.
