As Thomas W. Streeter noted in his own copy, ""This report signed by Silliman as 'Prof. of General and Applied Chemistry in Yale College' and dated, 'New Haven, Co. February 18th, 1865' is one of the earliest relating to a California oil property and the first, as fas as I know, on oil prospects in San Luis Obispo County.
